About me
Margaret Li is a Cleveland-based artist, illustrator, and animator. Her professional practice spans illustration, motion graphics, video editing, and creative production, with projects for organizations including Playhouse Square, the Ohio Department of Higher Education, and various publishers.
Her motion design work has been featured in Playhouse Square’s Marquee Moments, including animations created for Cleveland Metroparks’ Changing of Seasons and a promotional project for Disney’s The Lion King musical. Her artwork has also been exhibited in gallery and group shows, including the Lake Metroparks Penitentiary Glen Art Show and Cleveland Institute of Art faculty exhibitions. Drawing inspiration from vintage storybook illustration, anime and manga, and fantasy paintings, Margaret’s personal work explores whimsical subjects ranging from atmospheric landscapes and eye-catching food to elegantly attired animals.
Alongside her professional and personal practice, Margaret regularly participates in regional art events and festivals, where she exhibits and sells her artwork directly to audiences. She also teaches in the Animation Department at the Cleveland Institute of Art, sharing her experience in illustration, motion design, and visual storytelling.
